In one of it’s kind innovation South Korean Mobile manufacturer, Samsung takes a big leap by launching world’s first curved smartphone. While, many big tech giants where in pipeline for developing flexible display, Samsung proved to be the front runner. Talking more about the display, it sports a 5.7” Full HD Super AMOLED screen.
To begin with some amazing features that the curved display has to offer, the Roll Effect allows users to take a glimpse of the date, time, missed call and battery time even when the Home Screen is OFF. On the other hand, the Galaxy Effect can provide you a glance of the screen upon tilting the device.
But, what I found very innovative & attractive was the Bounce UX feature, which allows user to change tracks on a music player with a tilt to the left or right side. With, a track being played, a tilt to the left side on the phone will play the previous track and a tilt on the right side will play the next track on your playlist. Isn’t it amazing ??
As much has been discussed about the display, lets move to the core specification. The phone weighs 154 gms and thickness at 7.9mm. The high end smartphone is muscled with 2.3 Ghz Quad-core processor which runs on a smooth and buttery Android 4.3 Jellybean. On storage front, the handset will be available in 32 GB and 64 GB variant.
To add more, it has a 13 MP rear snapper and a 2.0 MP front snapper for video calling. Here’s a jot down of all what we have discussed so far.

As for now, the availability status stands at a bleak level, as Samsung Galaxy Round will be restricted to only South Korea for the time being. There is no intimation about the launch worldwide, also the initial offering will be available with Light Brown color only which will be extended further to other colors too.
The reason why it will not be extended to other countries, is the production of this stealth technology which allows user to experience a whole new dimension for smartphones. The display design is very challenging and Samsung need to gear up for the challenge of mass production of this device as it’s rival LG has already planned the launch of Smartphone with flexible display in November.
To add more to the extravaganza we have California based tech giant Apple Inc in the pipeline which is speculated to launch Smart watches with curved screens. So, guys it’s time to smell a new range of smartphones that will blow your mind.
We missed on a very important point i.e., the price of Samsung Galaxy Round. Well, the price tag comes directly from SK Telecom which is South Korea’s largest mobile carrier who is selling it for 1.08 million won i.e., $1000.
